Welcome to ArtStart Mosier!

ArtStart Mosier is a donor fund created to honor the legacy of artist, Deborah Weeks Marvin.  Its objective is to build a 5-year seed fund that will ensure a sustainable, high-quality arts education for all Mosier Community School students.  ArtStart Mosier funds will go toward a variety of arts initiatives, including providing high-quality art supplies and curriculum for classroom teachers, arts-based assemblies, and our Artists in Residence programs.

Mosier Community School is a preschool to 8th grade charter school, nestled near the banks of the Columbia River, in Mosier, Oregon.  We are a small, rural school with a diverse population of about 170 students.  In 2003, our school was on the brink of closure, but the Mosier community came together to draft a charter, and now, 20 years later, we’re still going strong!

At MCS, we know arts education is so valuable for developing creative thinking, fine motor skills and self-confidence in students of all ages.  Teaching the arts is important work that requires resources, training, and most of all, community!
